Cadaveric Masterclass

Facial Anatomy & Vascular Complications Avoidance

Monday 3rd March 2025

The Academy of Regenerative Medicine and SkinViva Training collectively bring to you the “Cadaveric Masterclass Course”.

This course is revolutionary in its approach, and it was the first of its kind to address the gaps in industry safety standards. It provides clear steps towards safer practice, offering delegates the most hand on, realistic experience.

Undertaking this course will provide you with the most updated skillset, enabling you to implement the learnings into your day-to-day practice. It will change your mindset, giving you a firm appreciation of the “modern” approach to anatomy and complications, dispelling the “textbook” approach that all anatomy is the same. You will be able to evidence to your patients you’re competent should a complication arise, risk- avoidance and safe practitioner, with their safety and outcome at the heart of your practice.

Join us in Coventry for a unique insight and deep understanding of what true facial anatomy is.

Delegates will attend a ONE day comprehensive & intensive course with theory & hands-on experience.

You will arrive at the location for 08:30 for registration and your day of learning will commence from 09:00am.

Delegates will start with a lecture being guided by a renowned expert faculty, discussing anatomy and complications, engaging you for the in-depth and intense day ahead.

Practical, hands-on approach

After this theoretical introduction it will be time to ‘make theory a reality’ with a practical hands-on approach.

This Masterclass will be hands-on enabling you to make complications theory a reality you can see. The delegates who have elected for this full day (0900-1800), will work in the dissection lab with specimens to really understand how injectable treatments impact key anatomical structures and can create complications. They will work in small groups under supervision with the specimens. The practical work will be punctuated with theory sessions following through to the 3D hands on view.

This is your chance to see the expert lead Faculty Mr. Ansar Mahmood and Dr Tim Pearce in action, allowing you the opportunity to talk about complication avoidance, and an opportunity to grow towards becoming a competent, confident, safe and risk avoidance practitioner.

Course Details

Objective

To improve & create a deep understanding of facial anatomy & vascular complications.

Course overview:

  • Strongly reinforcing anatomy knowledge, covering common variations.

  • Understanding the facial aging process and implications.

  • Examining each area of the face – Zone by Zone.

  • Encouraging discussion topics such as ‘to aspirate or not’ (does it work?), cannula vs needle and why? Injection techniques and materials, and how to relate to anatomy of the treated areas, and also how to avoid skin necrosis.

  • Correct placement produces to avoid complications and achieve optimal results.

1 Day Masterclass

Many attending delegates will not have seen the layered prosected anatomy and tissue in layers in different zones of the face. Here is the opportunity to visually see the 3D/4D pattern, highlighting the danger zones, the need for safety and accuracy of placement of product whilst treating or avoiding such areas and most importantly, how to deal with such complication should it ever arise.

There will be some myth dispelling around deep vs superficial injecting in certain areas and why. Visually, you will see varying cases of anatomy on an individual basis and how it differs to the historical “textbook” anatomy approach. This will provide you with the necessary skill set to adjust your approach to treatments, optimise patient outcome safely and avoid complications.

This is a rare opportunity to be ‘hands on’. Delegates opting for our 1-day intensive theory & practical course, will be working in the dissecting lab, directly on specimens in small groups under the guidance of an injector & a surgeon.

After listening to the theory & challenges for each area of the face and neck – you will then be dissecting down through the layers of skin and muscle to ‘augment theory with visual with muscle memory’ – zone by zone.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how injectable treatments impact key anatomical structures.

  • Appraise partially prosected cephalic, area by area

  • Appraise the difference of needle vs cannula in a practical setting.

  • Identify common mistakes and associated risks for the practitioners zone by zone.

  • Practice Hyalase preparation and placement.

  • Incision and drainage for infection.

Pre course reading:

Materials will be provided via WeTransfer followed by a printed manual on the day.

Outstanding Reviews

I almost felt sometimes that I was injecting blind. I haven't dissected since medical school and this was the best way to brush up on my core knowledge.

- Natasha

It's important to see how faces are different from person to person. A normal training course doesn't go into the same depth of the anatomy. It is different from just seeing it in a book.

- Karen

I was really surprised at how real life looks completely different to textbook. It's been a complete eye-opener.

- Claire

Great day... highly recommended, Thank you all x

- Kelly

A fantastic day. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to gain a greater insight into facial anatomy. ✨

This course will take you to the next level of learning, become a safer practitioner and better patient outcomes. You will gain a skillset to enable confidence to manage complications within your practice and undertaking treatments. This is a unique and rare opportunity to clearly visualise, understand facial anatomy structures and will give you those most realistic experience by using the specimens.Demonstrations will be undertaken by some of the most renowned experts within this field.

What will I experience sitting in the lecture theatre?

Throughout the day expert medical faculty will be based in the lecture theatre with you. There will be a Consultant Maxillo- Facial Surgeon present, performing the partial dissecting of tissues of the specimen. It will provide you with firmer understanding and appreciation of the delicate structures and planes of the facial anatomy.

Whilst in the lab, you will work within small groups to gain ‘hands on’ experience and safely practice techniques on the specimens.

Many attending delegates will not have seen the layered prosected anatomy and tissue in layers in different zones of the face. You will visually see the 3D/4D pattern, highlighting the danger zones, the need for safety and accuracy of placement of product whilst treating or avoiding such areas and most importantly, how to deal with such complication should it ever arise.

There will be some myth dispelling around deep vs superficial injecting in certain areas and why. This will provide you with the necessary skill set to adjust your approach to treatments, optimise patient outcome safely and avoid complications.

Are the cadavers consented for purposes of this course?

Yes, the cadavers are consented for medical research purposes which includes the learning which comes from medical faculty training in connection with complications & risk avoidance.

This course is compliant with the Human Tissues Act and regulations.

All delegates will be asked to sign the Human Tissues Act to comply with all regulations.

The objective and focus of this course are for safety and complications avoidance only, the donated tissues will not be used for any other purpose throughout this course.

Will I get hands-on experience?

If you elect for this course, you will go into the lab to work on the specimens to understand how injectable treatments can impact key anatomical structures and therefore understand how to prevent but also manage complications.

You will work in small groups of typically 3/4 students under supervision of a surgeon and an expert medical injector.

Why is there a medical faculty as well as a surgeon?

Both differ in skillset and expertise.

Having a surgeon as well as another medical faculty provides an excellent ‘combination approach’ to get the best knowledge for students in working with the specimens and being able to relate their experience and learning of anatomy to complications management in injectable treatments.

Who is eligible for this course?

Delegates must have membership to a Professional Statutory & regulatory Body (PRSB) with no restrictions, pending investigation or suspensions form practice i.e. GMC, GDC, NMC, HCPC GPhC.
